My name is Clive Riley and I am from South Africa. I began my teaching career in Taiwan, and I proceeded to teach children of primary school age there for 14 years.
I strive to foster a comfortable and healthy learning environment for my students. I work hard at improving all my students’ skills and helping them understand all aspects of the language they are learning. Having worked with many reading programs, I have become quite proficient at teaching reading in ways that engage the students and help them make great progress. I also have a great deal of experience with phonics that has helped students learn to spell and read much more easily.
I feel the learning process is a journey the teacher and learner embark on together. I believe every child can achieve greatness. They just need someone to believe in them and guide them.
I am very patient and enthusiastic, and I truly enjoy teaching. I am very easy to get along with and am very humorous. I support my students and believe that they are part of my broader family. I believe a teacher has the responsibility to teach more than just what is found in books. Included in this, is respect, integrity, patience, and a curiosity to seek knowledge without fear.
In furthering my students’ success, I also believe that parents are an integral part of the school team, and only by working together can we help the students attain the highest level of success possible.
I am very happy to now be living in Hong Kong and working at CNEC Ta Tung School. I look forward to being able to contribute to my students’ futures and help them achieve their goals.
