P1 Orientation Day (2021)

To deepen parents’ understanding of our school and to prepare pre-P1 students for the fun experience of learning in a primary school, we organised the P1 Orientation Day on 20 June 2020 (Saturday). The day was packed with lots of activities. At the new Ark built on the campus, pre-P1 students took part in creative activities with the Forest Play English adventure instructor. They also experienced the fun of STEM AI auto-driving. In the art and creativity classroom, they listened to music with our teachers and enjoyed making “noise”! On top of all these, we organised a parents’ briefing for the parents of pre-P1 students so that they could learn more about our school.

P1 Orientation Day (1920)

Pre-P1 students experienced some primary school classes, including physical education, visual arts and music lessons. They also took part in the “learning booth” games covering different subjects. The new students all appeared to get along well with their senior schoolmates and enjoyed a pleasant afternoon together.

P1 Summer Interest Group Classes

We organised a variety of fun summer activities for pre-P1 students. These included Fun Jumping @ Ta Tung, STEM experiments, Maths Olympiad Junior Elites and TT Junior Chefs. By taking part in these classes, students were exposed to primary school learning and established an understanding and a sense of belonging to our school. In “TT Junior Chefs”, we invited the dieticians and staff members of our lunch provider to teach our students about how to prepare healthy snacks. It was a joyful summer filled with great tastes and lovely flavours!

P1 Bridging Course

To help P1 students prepare for primary school learning, we organised a three-day bridging course before the start of the new school year. Through different games and activities, pre-P1 students learned about various subjects and classroom routines. They also began building close relationships with their class teachers and classmates.

For the parents of new students, we organised a “Briefing for Parents of P1 New Students”. Parents can learn more about the school and how to help their children adapt to the P1 curriculum and the new campus life. In addition to meeting their children’s class teachers and subject teachers, parents of the same class also formed their support network.

I’ve grown up experiential classes

To facilitate P1 students’ smoother transition from kindergarten to primary school, and to help them adapt to primary school life, our school has a policy of not having an examination during the first trimester for the Primary 1 class. During the exam week of senior grade students, P1 students enjoy a happy learning experiential course called “I’ve Grown Up”. Through this course, they learn to develop a positive learning attitude and establish good learning habits. They also learn about how to master assessments. The experiential course is designed to help them build a solid foundation to support future learning. It also facilitates their development towards a healthy mind and healthy body. The four-day experiential course comprises extended learning activities, e-learning activities and joyful reading sessions. These activities would help consolidate what P1 students have learned in Chinese, English, Mathematics and General Studies. An interest in reading is also promoted.

English Phonics Programme

The RWI programme is a fun and systematic way to learn English phonics. From single words to sentences, accompanied by reading and writing practises, the programme improves students’ literacy through a progressive approach. Students can master English with ease at a young age. Let’s see how our students blend the words with SET 1 sounds.

Hip Hop Dance Training

The school’s hip-hop dancing team was founded in 2015. It aims at promoting the culture of street dance. We hope our students can develop confidence and a sense of responsibility through practices and performances. The hip-hop training has a junior group, so that young students can also participate, practise physical moves and coordination of their bodies, and enjoy the fun of team performances.

Musical Seeds Programme

The school’s Musical Seeds Programme is a connected narrative about musicians and various stories. Through introducing different musical instruments, P1 and P2 students enjoy taking part in interactive and delightful music activities.

We hope our children will discover an interest in learning musical instruments, experience the beauty of music and be inspired to be creative from their junior grade years.

Instrumental Music

In terms of music education, the school has created many opportunities for learning musical instruments. For instance, the weekly instrument lessons allow students to learn both Chinese and Western instruments. Our students can also take part in orchestra trainings and enjoy the fun of playing music in a group.
